AROUSE plays an active role in protecting and supporting migrant workers through the Migrant Assistance and Information Network (MAIN), a Jesuit Collective initiative dedicated to assisting distressed internal and interstate migrant workers across India.

Every year, thousands of workers from Jharkhand leave their homes in search of employment opportunities. While migration can improve livelihoods, many workers face risks such as exploitation, unsafe working conditions, wage disputes, lack of documentation, and emergencies far from their families. In such situations, access to reliable information and timely support becomes crucial.

To address these challenges, AROUSE works closely with communities to raise awareness about safe migration practices. Our team helps workers understand their rights, guides them in registering on the Government's Migrant e-Portal, and ensures they know where to seek assistance when difficulties arise.

Through strong partnerships with local organizations, service providers, and government agencies, we strive to ensure that migrant workers receive timely support, accurate information, and compassionate guidance.

The Migrant Assistance and Information Network (MAIN) bring together Jesuit educational, social, pastoral, and youth networks along with civil society organizations, NGOs, institutions, and volunteers. This collaborative platform provides a coordinated response to the needs of migrant workers across sixteen states in India.

MAIN supports migrant workers by:

Operating a dedicated helpline for information and assistance.
Responding to distress calls through a network of partner organizations.
Providing emergency support and referrals to appropriate services.
Facilitating access to government schemes and entitlements.
Advocating for migrant rights through case analysis, research, and engagement with government authorities and key stakeholders.

In Jharkhand, the network particularly supports workers from the districts of Gumla, Lohardaga, Simdega, and Khunti. Specialized offices in these districts help migrants prepare for safe migration and access support whenever required.

Workers planning to seek employment outside the state are encouraged to register with the Labour Superintendent's Office before departure. Registration provides greater protection, access to information, and support during their journey and employment period.

At AROUSE, we believe that no migrant worker should face hardship alone. Through awareness, accompaniment, emergency assistance, and advocacy, we continue to stand alongside migrant workers and their families, helping them migrate safely, work with dignity, and access the support they deserve.
